Wavelength
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012651
The spatial period of a periodic wave, representing the distance between consecutive points of corresponding phase, such as two adjacent crests or troughs. For electromagnetic radiation propagating in a vacuum, it is the speed of light divided by the wave's frequency. Wavelength is typically measured in meters or fractions thereof, such as nanometers (nm) for visible light or angstroms (Å) for X-rays.
