Wavelength in medium

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012653

The spatial period of a monochromatic electromagnetic wave as it propagates through a specific material medium. This value is dependent on the refractive index of the medium and is generally shorter than the wavelength in vacuum. It is calculated by dividing the wavelength in vacuum by the refractive index of the medium.
