Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004424

A porous medium or device used to separate solid particles from a fluid (liquid or gas) by allowing the fluid to pass through while retaining the solids. The effectiveness of a filter depends on the pore size of the medium and the size of the particles to be removed. Common types include membrane filters, HEPA filters, and activated carbon filters.
