Dissolved organic carbon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003331
The fraction of organic carbon in a water sample that passes through a filter, operationally defined by a specific pore size. This material consists of a complex mixture of molecules, including humic and fulvic acids, derived from the decomposition of plants and animals. The standard method for separation uses a filter with a nominal pore size of 0.45 micrometers.
