Porous membrane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009282
A thin, permeable barrier containing interconnected pores that allow for the selective passage of certain substances while retaining others. The separation mechanism relies on differences in size, shape, or charge between the permeating species and the pore dimensions. These membranes are characterized by their pore size distribution, which can range from nanometers to micrometers.
