Ion-selective membrane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006149
A semi-permeable barrier that preferentially allows the passage of specific ions while restricting others. This selectivity is achieved through the membrane's chemical composition and structure, which includes fixed charged sites or mobile ion carriers. Such membranes are integral components of ion-selective electrodes, which measure ion activities in solutions.
