Porosity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009281

The ratio of the volume of all pores and voids within a solid material to the bulk volume of the material itself. This property is expressed as a dimensionless fraction or a percentage and quantifies the amount of empty space. In heterogeneous catalysis, the porosity of a catalyst support affects reactant diffusion and the accessibility of active sites.
