Outgassing
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008372
The release of adsorbed or absorbed gases from a material, typically occurring when the material is exposed to a vacuum or elevated temperature. This process can contaminate vacuum systems or alter the properties of the material itself. The rate of outgassing depends on the material's porosity and surface area.
