Composite membrane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002332
A membrane composed of two or more distinct layers, each contributing specific properties to the overall separation performance. It typically consists of a thin, selective top layer responsible for separation, supported by a thicker, porous substrate that provides mechanical strength. These membranes are designed to overcome limitations of single-layer membranes, such as achieving high flux and selectivity simultaneously.
