Dynamic membrane formation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003496

The in-situ creation of a selective layer on a porous support, typically by the deposition of colloidal particles, macromolecules, or precipitates from a feed solution during a filtration process. This layer acts as the actual membrane, controlling the separation. The properties of the dynamic membrane can change over time as more material accumulates or detaches.
