Molecular sieve effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007519

The phenomenon where a porous material selectively adsorbs or allows passage of molecules based on their size and shape, while excluding larger molecules. This effect arises from the precise pore dimensions of the material, which act as a filter. Zeolites and certain polymers are common examples of materials exhibiting this effect.
