Filtration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004426

The physical process of separating suspended solid particles from a fluid by passing the mixture through a porous medium that retains the solids. This technique is widely used in chemistry for purification, clarification, and isolation of precipitates. The efficiency of filtration is influenced by factors such as particle size, fluid viscosity, and pressure differential across the filter medium.
