Cross-flow filtration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002715
A filtration technique where the fluid flows tangentially across the surface of a membrane, rather than perpendicularly through it. This continuous flow minimizes the buildup of retained particles on the membrane surface, reducing fouling and maintaining filtration efficiency. It is widely applied in biotechnology for concentrating macromolecules or clarifying fermentation broths.
