Carrier gas
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001681
An inert gas, such as helium, nitrogen, or argon, that flows continuously through a chromatographic column to transport the sample components. In gas chromatography, it serves as the mobile phase, carrying the vaporized analytes through the stationary phase. The choice of carrier gas affects separation efficiency and detector sensitivity.
