Isobaric separation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006169

A chromatographic separation carried out with constant inlet and outlet pressures, so that the pressure drop across the column stays fixed during the run. It is the constant-pressure counterpart of constant-flow operation. In gas chromatography with a temperature program, the carrier gas flow rate then falls as the column heats up, because the viscosity of the gas rises.
