Isopycnic separation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006213
A chromatographic separation, defined in the nomenclature of supercritical fluid chromatography, run while the density of the mobile phase is held constant. Temperature and pressure can be varied during the run as long as the density does not change. It differs from isopycnic centrifugation, in which particles band at the position in a density gradient where their buoyant density equals that of the surrounding medium.
