Supercritical fluid chromatography-mass spectrometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011596

A hyphenated analytical technique that couples supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) for separation with mass spectrometry (MS) for detection, identification, and quantification. Analytes eluting from the SFC column are introduced into the ion source of the mass spectrometer, where they are ionized before mass analysis. This method is particularly suited for the analysis of thermally labile or non-volatile compounds not easily handled by gas chromatography.
