Gradient elution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004978
A procedure in liquid chromatography where the composition of the mobile phase is deliberately changed during the separation process. The change in solvent strength or polarity is programmed to run over a specific time, altering the retention of analytes as they travel through the column. This technique contrasts with isocratic elution, where the mobile phase composition remains constant throughout the entire run.
