Isocratic elution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006175
A mode of liquid chromatography in which the solvent mixture flowing through the column keeps the same proportions for the whole separation. It is chosen when the sample's components interact with the stationary phase to similar extents, and it is the counterpart of gradient elution, in which the proportions change with time. Because the eluent composition never changes, the detector baseline stays steady and the column needs no re-equilibration between injections.
