Isocyanides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013219
Organic compounds containing the isocyanide functional group (-N≡C), where the carbon atom is formally divalent. These compounds are isomers of nitriles and are characterized by a carbon-nitrogen triple bond with a formal positive charge on nitrogen and a negative charge on carbon. They are also known as isonitriles and have a distinctive, often unpleasant, odor.
