Isocyclic compounds

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013220

Organic compounds that contain one or more closed rings of atoms, where all the atoms forming the ring structure are of the same element. In organic chemistry, this element is exclusively carbon, making these compounds synonymous with carbocyclic compounds. The term is used interchangeably with homocyclic compounds and encompasses both alicyclic compounds like cyclohexane and aromatic compounds like benzene.
