Homocyclic compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013157
Molecules containing a ring structure composed solely of atoms of the same element. In the vast majority of cases within organic chemistry, this element is carbon, making the term effectively synonymous with carbocyclic or isocyclic compounds. Homocyclic compounds are subdivided into alicyclic compounds, such as cyclopropane and cyclohexane, and aromatic compounds, such as benzene.
