Polyarylenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009105
A polymer whose macromolecules contain exclusively arenediyl or heteroarenediyl units in the backbone, so aromatic rings are joined directly to one another without intervening atoms. Poly(p-phenylene) is the prototype, and polyphenylenes form a subclass. Polymers with linking atoms between the rings, such as poly(p-phenylene sulfide), belong to other classes.
