Ring assembly

A compound consisting of two or more identical cyclic systems directly joined to each other by a single bond. The rings in an assembly are not fused and do not share common atoms other than the linking bond. An example is biphenyl, which consists of two benzene rings joined by a single carbon-carbon bond.
