Polyglutarimide
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009142
A polymer whose macromolecules contain glutarimide rings, six-membered cyclic imides, in the backbone. It is usually made by treating poly(methyl methacrylate) or a related polyacrylate with an amine such as methylamine, which closes the rings with loss of alcohol, so the product normally still holds some residual acrylic units. Polyglutarimides have a higher glass transition temperature than the parent acrylic polymer and remain transparent.
