Polyparabanic acid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009220
A polymer whose macromolecules contain imidazolidine-2,4,5-trione rings, known as parabanic acid rings, in the backbone. Each ring has two nitrogen atoms flanked by carbonyl groups, so the class is counted as a subclass of polyimides. Parabanic acid itself is the cyclic ureide of oxalic acid, and diisocyanates are the usual starting materials for the polymers.
