Polyamide acid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009100
A precursor polymer containing repeating amide and carboxylic acid functional groups, also known as a poly(amic acid). These polymers are soluble in organic solvents and serve as intermediates in the synthesis of polyimides. The final, insoluble polyimide is formed by heating the polyamide acid to induce a cyclodehydration reaction, which removes water and creates the imide ring structure.
