Polythiazoles
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013424
A polymer whose macromolecules contain thiazole rings, five-membered heterocycles with one sulfur and one nitrogen atom, in the backbone. They are commonly prepared by metal-catalysed coupling of halogenated thiazoles, for example by Kumada coupling, or by polycondensations based on the Hantzsch thiazole synthesis of thioamides with alpha-haloketones. Conjugated polythiazoles are studied as semiconducting materials.
