Polypeptides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009221

Linear polymers composed of multiple amino acid residues linked together by peptide bonds. Each amino acid consists of an amino group, a carboxyl group, a hydrogen atom, and a unique side chain, all attached to a central alpha-carbon atom. Polypeptides fold into specific three-dimensional structures to form functional proteins, which perform a vast array of biological roles within living organisms.
