N-terminal analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008090
A biochemical method used to determine the amino acid sequence starting from the N-terminus (amino-terminus) of a protein or peptide. This analysis typically involves sequential cleavage of amino acids from the N-terminus, followed by their identification. The Edman degradation is a classic example of an N-terminal analysis technique, providing sequence information for up to 50-60 amino acid residues.
