N-region
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008089
A segment of DNA encoding the non-templated nucleotides (N-nucleotides) inserted at the junctions of rearranged V, D, and J gene segments in immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor genes. This region is generated by the enzyme terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase during lymphocyte development. It contributes to the vast diversity of antigen-binding sites.
