Amino-acid residue
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000493
The portion of an amino acid that remains after it has been incorporated into a polypeptide chain through peptide bond formation. This residue lacks a hydrogen atom from its amino group and a hydroxyl group from its carboxyl group. Proteins are polymers composed of many such amino-acid residues linked together.
