Depsipeptides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003036

Peptide-like compounds that contain both amide and ester linkages within their backbone. These molecules are formed from amino acids and hydroxy acids, where the hydroxyl group of a hydroxy acid forms an ester bond with a carboxyl group of an amino acid or another hydroxy acid. Many naturally occurring depsipeptides exhibit biological activity, such as antibiotic or antitumor properties.
