Transesterification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012208
A chemical reaction where an ester reacts with an alcohol to form a new ester and a different alcohol. This process involves the exchange of the alkoxy group of an ester with another alkoxy group. Transesterification is widely used in the production of polyesters and in the synthesis of biodiesel.
