Anomeric hydroxy group
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000638
The hydroxyl group attached to the anomeric carbon atom in a cyclic monosaccharide. The anomeric carbon is the carbon atom derived from the carbonyl carbon of the open-chain form. This group can exist in either an alpha or beta configuration, leading to different anomers with distinct chemical properties.
