Glycosyl
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004953
A univalent group derived from a cyclic monosaccharide or oligosaccharide by removal of the anomeric hydroxyl group, so that the ring is attached to another atom through its anomeric carbon. The group is named by replacing the ending -ose with -osyl, as in glucosyl from glucose. Glycosyl groups make up the carbohydrate part of glycosides and of glycosidic linkages in glycoconjugates.
