Glycosides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004951

Compounds formed from a carbohydrate and another non-carbohydrate compound, called an aglycone, through a glycosidic bond. This bond is typically formed between the anomeric carbon of the carbohydrate and an oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, or carbon atom of the aglycone. Many natural products, such as cardiac glycosides, exhibit this structure.
