Glycone
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004944
The carbohydrate portion of a glycoside molecule, which is released upon hydrolysis of the glycosidic bond. This sugar component can be a monosaccharide, oligosaccharide, or polysaccharide. It is covalently linked to a non-carbohydrate moiety, known as the aglycone, through an O-, N-, S-, or C-glycosidic bond.
