Aglycon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000339
The non-sugar component of a glycoside, which is covalently linked to the anomeric carbon of the sugar moiety. This part of the molecule is responsible for many of the biological activities of glycosides. The bond connecting the aglycon to the sugar is called a glycosidic bond.
