Depsides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003035

A class of natural products, primarily found in lichens, formed by the esterification of two or more phenolic carboxylic acids. These compounds are characterized by an ester linkage between the carboxyl group of one phenolic acid and the hydroxyl group of another. Depsides are often biologically active, exhibiting antibiotic or antioxidant properties.
