A three-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy experiment that correlates the chemical shift of an amide proton with its attached nitrogen and the carbonyl carbon of the preceding amino acid residue. Magnetization is transferred from the amide proton to its directly bonded nitrogen and then across the peptide bond to the carbonyl carbon. The resulting spectrum shows one peak for each amino acid residue (except proline), linking atoms within the same peptide backbone unit.
