Polyphenylenes

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009223

A class of polymers consisting of repeating phenylene (aromatic benzene) units directly linked to each other in the polymer backbone. These polymers are known for their exceptional thermal stability, rigidity, and chemical resistance due to the strong aromatic bonds. They are explored for high-temperature applications, advanced composites, and as precursors for carbon materials, often exhibiting semiconducting properties.
