Diazonium salts
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003147
Organic compounds containing the diazonium functional group, which consists of a nitrogen-nitrogen triple bond with a positive charge on one nitrogen atom (R-N≡N+ X-). These salts are typically formed by the reaction of primary aromatic amines with nitrous acid. They are highly reactive and serve as versatile intermediates in organic synthesis, particularly for forming carbon-nitrogen and carbon-carbon bonds.
