Gradient layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004979
A stationary phase in chromatography, typically in thin-layer chromatography, where the properties of the layer vary continuously across its length or thickness. This variation, such as in pH, pore size, or adsorbent activity, is designed to enhance the separation of components in a mixture. It provides improved resolution for samples containing compounds with a broad range of polarities.
