Isorefractive
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013222
Describing two or more substances that possess the same refractive index. When a polymer and a solvent are isorefractive, the polymer becomes optically invisible in the solution, as light passes through without refraction or scattering at the polymer-solvent interface. This property is exploited in light scattering studies of polymer blends or copolymers to isolate the scattering contribution of a specific component by matching the refractive index of the solvent to that of the other components.
