Thermal conductivity detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011935
A common type of detector used in gas chromatography that measures changes in the thermal conductivity of the carrier gas as analytes elute from the column. It operates by sensing the difference in temperature between a heated filament exposed to pure carrier gas and one exposed to the carrier gas mixed with eluting compounds. This detector is non-destructive and responds to most compounds.
