Lowest-observed-effect-level
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006792
The lowest concentration or amount of a substance, found by experiment or observation, that causes any detectable alteration in morphology, functional capacity, growth, development, or lifespan of the target organism. This alteration is assessed in comparison with a normal (control) group under defined conditions of exposure. The value is distinct from the lowest-observed-adverse-effect-level (LOAEL), which specifically requires the observed effect to be adverse.
