Adverse effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000299

A change in the morphology, physiology, growth, development, or lifespan of an organism which results in an impairment of its functional capacity. This alteration reduces the organism's ability to compensate for additional stress or increases its susceptibility to other influences. The determination of whether an effect is adverse requires expert judgment based on the magnitude of the change and its biological context.
