Hazard

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005118

The inherent property of a chemical agent to cause an adverse effect when a particular organism is exposed to it. This property is an intrinsic characteristic of the substance itself, independent of the dose, exposure route, or duration. Hazard is distinct from risk, which is the probability of an adverse effect occurring under specific conditions of exposure.
