Adverse drug reaction

An unintended and undesirable response to a drug that occurs at doses normally used for prophylaxis, diagnosis, or therapy. These reactions can range from mild side effects to severe, life-threatening events. They are distinct from drug overdose or drug abuse and are a major concern in pharmacovigilance.
